In an effort to assist potential homebuyers afford the costs of buying a new home, Rhode Island Housing offers the First Down Program, a forgivable loan that targets homebuyers in five Rhode Island communities: Providence, Pawtucket, Woonsocket, Warwick, and Cranston. The program aids first-time homebuyers with up to $7,500 in down payment assistance. And, it's even forgivable for some borrowers, meaning you may never have to pay it back.
